NGN’s how to... Get shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Black/White!

Getting a shiny  Pokémon is a rare occasion. And when you do get one it’s not very likely you’ll get many more. But I have a little how to guide on how to get more of ‘em!

Let’s start with the basics:

A shiny Pokémon is a different coloured form of a Pokémon. Each Pokémon has a shiny form (apart from legendaries like Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom etc.). However, getting a shiny form of a Pokémon is EXTREMELY difficult to do because the chances of getting a shiny Pokémon are 1 in 8,192! So these are pretty rare little buggers we’re talking about! Another thing you should know is that some Pokémon’s shiny forms are very similar to their normal form. For example: a Pichu’s shiny form is only a little bit darker yellow (see picture, the one on the right is shiny and the one on the left is a normal spiky eared one, which is just a different form of Pichu.).

Methods:

There are a few good methods to catching/obtaining shiny Pokémon:

1)     1)  Walk around in the long grass for ages and try to find a shiny Pokémon. However this is very time consuming and is a terrible method for catching shiny ‘mon! Because, as I said before, the chances of getting a shiny are 1 in 8,192! So don’t use this method!!!
2)      2) Trade. Ask your friends for a shiny (if they have one) but they probably won’t let you have it. But this “method” actually works quite well! Because some people on GTS or GTS Negotiations don’t notice that they have a shiny. Because like I said, some Pokémon have shiny forms that are very similar to their normal form. So you could get yourself a good deal! I once ALMOST got a shiny Sandile for a level 1 Zorua! I say almost because just as the trade started, my Wi-Fi cut out! GRRRRRRR!
3)      3) Hack. No don’t hack! It defeats the object of collecting shiny Pokémon and makes it too easy! Life is boring without a challenge so DON’T HACK!
4)      4) Masuda Method. This method is named after Pokémon’s producer: Junichi Masuda, who created the method. And this is THE BEST method for getting shiny ‘mon! It is done by breeding a foreign Pokémon with a native Pokémon. So the best thing to do is get a foreign Ditto (from Japan maybe). So go on GTS, search “Ditto” select the country as “Japan” (or something) and trade away! Okay so now you have your Japanese Ditto. Select a Pokémon you want to have a shiny form of (but you have GOT to be the Original Trainer!). In this case we’ll go with Zorua just as an example. Then go to the Day Care at Route 3 (see picture).

Now put the Ditto and Zorua together in the Day Care and leave. Now go to Striaton City, but don’t go all the way in, just wait until the writing at the top of the screen saying “Straiton City” comes and fades away. Once the writing fades away, pass the day care, if the guy calls you over then you have an egg, if not then perform the same thing over and over again until he gives you an egg. This is called “re-setting the area”. The best thing to do is select a box in your computer, collect eggs and put them all in the box, only when you have half a box full of eggs go out and hatch them! So you have your half a box full, now you need to hatch your eggs! But first you need a Pokémon with Flame Body as its ability (like Larvesta, Volcarona, Slugma, Rapidash etc.), this halves the time it will take to hatch the eggs (if you have that Flame Body Pokémon on your team). So now put the Flame body Pokémon in your team and go to Castelia Bridge! Now just cross the bridge over and over until your eggs hatch! So now, when the eggs hatch, the chances of the newly hatched Pokémon being a shiny is reduced from 1 in 8,192 to 1,365.3, about 6 times more likely! So just repeat this process over and over until you have a shiny! I got my Shiny Emboar like this (there he is in the picture! Looks awesome huh?)!

And that’s all you need to know about shiny Pokémon! I hope this guide has helped! Goodbye and happy hunting!

  1. I figured out a better method, here it is. Stay in one area (it can be in a cave or on a route) and beat pokemon. Don't run away! If you run away, the effort will be for nothing. And if you need to heal your pokemon don't go through another area or have your pokemon use fly. This will also make your effort for nothing. So you want to be in an area that is right by the place you are healing your pokemon at.
These rules work better than the other ones by a decent amount and it works for me. I got about 5 shinys using this method. So I recommend it.
I'M NOT MESSING WITH YOU! OK?
I will not be posting here again.
    Bye.
